Most of us don’t like to admit weaknesses, much less failures.

We often associate times of troubles with our weakness. I know that I have.

It is tempting to say that troubles and trials have made me strong.

As we learn from the apostle Paul, the truth is that our weakness allows us to experience the power of Christ as we surrender weakness to Him and allow His strength to take over.

I can acquire Christ’s strength whenever I recognize my weakness and lean on Him in times of trouble.

Are you relying on Him in times of trouble?

I love this quote by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as one I heard today in an interview with his daughter, Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King ~

“My father was a living epistle. He literally embodied the Spirit of Christ. There’s a power in believing and lining yourself up with God’s Word.”

Taking the first step is so important! When we exercise our faith, and our desires are lined up with God’s Word, the Lord will meet us there.

How much of your thought life is spent on your worries?

Chances are that worry is a beast that you’ve been battling for years. When you reflect on it, it’s usually apparent that worrying is basically a losing battle.

An important aspect of my coaching practice is working with clients on their thought processing. We work on “re-framing”, learning to think differently. The idea is to replace hurtful, self-defeating behavior for that which is positive.

The picture and verse that I selected for this post speak directly to the path for productive and positive thinking that can remove worrying from its dominant position in your thoughts.

As you become focused on redirecting your thought life to Christ, you will experience a transformation and renewal of your mind that will allow your worries to fade and to be replaced with His peace. (Romans 12:2)

You may need to check your Bible for more detail on God’s perspective for that thought.

Not only do you take your negative thoughts captive, but you take your mind and heart captive, too.  In order to know His perspective and the truth, you need to rely on the mind of Christ at work in you.

Are you ready to re-frame?

New Year’s Eve fireworks made me think about Christ’s lighting up the darkness and the importance for each of us to share in helping the glorious Light of Christ to shine on this dark world.

This past week, I celebrated my 57th birthday. It sounds old to me because I feel as though I’ve been on a long and tumultuous journey thus far. I have made more than my share of mistakes, but they have led me to a place where I can share my experiences while helping others to share the joy in the Lord’s healing and unfailing Love.

God continues to reveal His plan for my life one day at a time. He puts the pieces together in His way and time, exchanging ashes for beauty and making me into the woman He intended me to be. He wants to do the same for you!

Together, we can add to a reflection that will help to brighten His light and reduce the darkness in this world!

We won’t be complete ‘til we are at Home with Him, but each year brings us closer!

Here’s to the brightening of His light in the year ahead!
