About Laura

Meet Laura

I live in Kennebunkport and am a long-time single Mom to my teenage son, who is my greatest blessing in this life. I grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore, graduated from The Bryn Mawr School for Girls in 1984 and earned a B.A. in Psychology in 1988 from The University of Virginia.

After five years working in the mental health field, I earned 15 credits towards a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland before going through a divorce and relocating to Massachusetts. I hit rock bottom and rededicated my life to the Lord. I joined a church and various Bible Study groups and worked as a property manager before leaving an unhealthy relationship, and moved to Maine five years later. I worked in software for a year, became a member of a church, bought a house and began a four-year position as office manager for a financial investment company.

Two years later, after pastoral counseling and reconciliation, I married the man I had left in Massachusetts. I helped raise two sets of step-children before my own son was born at age 40. After going through severe post-partum depression, I slowly began a long journey of healing from past trauma and abuse, including the trauma of abortion, and finalized a divorce when my son was 3.

Through volunteering as a church liaison, I became involved with a nearby pregnancy resource center and was eventually drawn to working there as a coach. I earned a coaching certificate from the American Association of Christian Counselors in order to work with the clients. Later I became involved in opening a new pregnancy resource center in a neighboring city, where I also coached clients. When this center closed unexpectedly, I was led to life coaching and was certified as a Christian Life Coach in 2016. My coaching niche has continued to evolve in line with my personal development and spiritual growth, and I have been gradually building my coaching business and ministry.

I believe the Lord has called me to use my life story, with my past mistakes and experiences, together with God’s redeeming power, to glorify Him by sharing the love, hope and healing I have found in Christ with those who are hurting. I believe he is calling me to shine His light on the path of others seeking new life in His Kingdom. I enjoy helping to remove the barriers to Christ’s presence in others’ lives and helping them to find God’s purpose in their suffering, including the ability to praise Him for His perfect plan of redemption.

As a Transformational Coach, my mission is to empower women with past trauma to overcome shame and guilt, and gain the self-esteem and confidence they need to free themselves from unhealthy relationships and find healing, hope and an abundant life. Most recently, I have felt called to help women (and men) heal after an abortion, which I believe is the underlying cause of many unhealthy relationships.

I have also been called to the new field of mental health coaching. I want to help my clients find healing through experiencing the love of God and help them to grow in their relationship with God by gaining spiritual insight and wisdom.

I believe that the Lord did not intend for us to carry our burdens alone (Galatians 6:2). He has called us to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34). He has called us to be in relationship with one another. My purpose is to come alongside my client and partner with them to help strengthen and build them up with compassion, kindness, acceptance, patience, gentleness and LOVE.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Galations 6:2
